A Mindful (Conscious) Life: Educating and Providing Support to Victims of Emotional Abuse.

Abuse of ANY kind is not a secret. I found that the more I kept the secrets of my abusive relationship to myself, the more pain and anguish of being emotionally tortured remained with me. After writing a very lengthy trauma narrative and telling my story, I realized that my trauma narrative belonged to the source of my pain, my abuser. Bringing such grave physical, financial, emotional and spiritual repercussions into my life, I found that I would never be free of his control, as long as my story remained with me. I would continue to be isolated and hold on to the secrets... the secrets that my abuser coerced me to believe were mine, the secrets that brought his pain and anguish into my life. Moving forward, through the fear, isolation and threats, meant I would no longer keep the secrets that didn't belong to me. I would no longer be the scapegoat for all the pain and ugliness that belonged to my abuser.... I would finally be understood.
